On the Horizon

The Jozette May we see the world with gentle eyes Volume 1...Article 7 On the Horizon The USNS Mercy (T-AH-19) and USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) have been deployed to assist in the health crisis - Coronavirus Pandemic 2020 (COVID-19). The USNS Mercy deployed to Los Angeles on Friday March 27, 2020. The USNS Comfort deploys today from Norfolk, Virginia - arriving in New York on Monday, March 30, 2020. The ships will provide much-needed assistance for health professionals in both cities but will not hold the covid-19 patients. Both ships will assist in overflow of patients at each location. Today President Trump will be seeing off the USNS Comfort in Norfolk, Virginia. He is going to "...kiss it goodbye!" This will be the first time in U.S. history that a hospital ship has been deployed for a global pandemic. It is a symbol of hope and the mounting severity of this crisis. An article by  AndrĂ© B. Sobocinskli, said the "USNS Mercy and USNS Comfort are ...

Mr. President - Thank You

The Jozette may we see the world with gentle eyes  Vol. 1... Article 6 Mr. President - Thank You Day after day I absorb the news and watch with amazement at the unprecedented actions and stamina of a man that gets far less credit than he should, while working tirelessly for all Americans. It is impossible to imagine a president who could bear the unrelenting pressure, stress, and criticism that President Trump has endured, while also leading our country to one of the greatest economies in modern history/renewing our standing across the globe/building our military/fighting for the unborn child/placing two supreme court justices on the bench and as of March 1, 2020 -193 Article III judicial appointments. The list goes on and on. In addition to all of these accomplishments, he has continually faced the unrelenting attacks from the media while still being one of the most prolific presidents in modern times. Now he fights, yet again, for Americans as a great lead...

Empathy Grows

The Jozette may we see the world with gentle eyes Vol. 1...Article 5 Empathy Grows  As someone with chronic health problems, it occurs to me, and I'm sure to many others in the same situation - that life in the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, has not seen much change in our lives. We are use to isolation due to our conditions causing us either to not feel well enough to go out, or for some, not to be able to. We, that are at home, due to chronic health problems, often only get a view of a "normal"  life through our televisions or social media. This is a very  isolating and lonely position to be in, by no choice of our own. No one wishes to be alone for extended periods of time, nor do we wish this on others. Maybe during this unprecedented time in our history, others will come out of isolation with an empathy that they may not have had otherwise. So many wonderful things are occurring in the United States and across the globe, which I pray will co...

A Country in Limbo

The Jozette may we see the world with gentle eyes Vol. 1...Article 4 A Country in Limbo                                                          As each American tries to heed the guidelines of President Trump and the  Coronavirus Task Force, citizens are left wondering what is next! The President and his task force have been working tirelessly to gadge the the health risks of the citizens and the effects of COVID-19 on our once booming economy. People around the country are in limbo - will they be returning to work, continue working from home, or will they even have a job to return to? This is heavy on everyone's minds. We are called to be patient and to fulfill our patriotic duty by "flattening the curve," as Dr. Anthony Fauci has stated. If we follow the guidelines, we may be able to avoid the tragedy that has overwhe...

Personal Effects of the Coronavirus

The Jozette may we see the world with gentle eyes Vol. 1...Article 3 Personal Effects of the Coronovirus It is Monday, March 23rd, 2020. We are 8 days into the "Coronavirus guidelines for America." On Monday, March 16, 2020 the White house issued Coronovirus guidelines for the United States, calling for 15 days of "social distancing." Governor Andrew Cuomo giving one of his daily briefings this morning, concerning the Coronavirus and all of the requirements and needs of New York City and New York, said today in some of his final remarks - some more touching things concerning the times we are in and how to make the most of them. In his remarks, he said "don't underestimate the pain of isolation. It is real, not to be comforted, not to be close. To be afraid and you can't hug someone." He mentioned two men by name - Billy and Steve, and he said he had not seen them in months, and he couldn't even shake their hands or hug them....

Patriots in Crisis

The Jozette May we see the world with gentle eyes Vol. 1.. Article 2 Patriots in Crisis  People around the world are coming together in a time of crisis. During the unprecedented outbreak of the 2020 Coronavirus,  Americans, Europeans, Asians etc, are showing solidarity, kindness, and patriotism. This morning, on the news, I heard a story of a neighborhood (as all schools are closed now), going outside each school morning to say the pledge of allegiance to the American flag. There are people all over the world, in their homes or apartments - coming together to belt out songs with one another, as they try and lift the spirits of others and themselves, while in quarantine. Nursing homes are being visited differently these days, and maybe more so - as loved ones stand or sit outside of their windows communicating with signs, hand motions and an outpouring of love for our greatest generation. Musicians around the globe are performing in different ven...

Unexpected Inspirations

The Jozette May we see the world with gentle eyes Vol. 1.. Article 1   Governor Cuomo                                                                                                             Even though I'm a Republican and disagree with most of the democratic platforms, during this time in America when we are fighting the Coronavirus and should all set our politics completely aside, I have been inspired by Andrew Cuomo, the Governor of New York as he has been giving press briefings every day. Most of it has been about updating everyone on the coronavirus and instructions on the ever-changing CDC guidelines. During these briefings it has been almost like a "fireside chat," where he ha...
