Governor Cuomo

Even though I'm a Republican and disagree with most of the democratic platforms, during this time in America when we are fighting the Coronavirus and should all set our politics completely aside, I have been inspired by Andrew Cuomo, the Governor of New York as he has been giving press briefings every day.
Most of it has been about updating everyone on the coronavirus and instructions on the ever-changing CDC guidelines.
During these briefings it has been almost like a "fireside chat," where he has been encouraging everyone and giving personal stories. One of the stories he gave today on March 19th, 2020, was about what his grandfather (Andrea - an Italian/American immigrant), used to say - he said he used to say, "we grow too soon old, and too late smart." Governor Cuomo referenced this in relation to young people that had still been going on spring break and not taking things seriously, putting themselves and others at risk.
At another time during today's news conference, he talked about his children and something he often said to them - he would say to them one line -  "risk, reward." He said often this is all he would say to his children because if he pushed too hard, they would go the other way. His daughter, Michaela, was wanting to go on spring break this year but chose not to, with no prompting from him other than the question - "risk, reward?"
What other people are doing right now, going on spring break around large groups of people, are putting people at risk. He said " the risk, does not justify the rewards."
I hope we will all come together to fight this war that we face  and protect those who are most at risk  by all doing everything we can do!
